Ecosystems, human health and security
The COHAB Initiative Secretariat is planning to hold a series of meetings on the links between ecosystem integrity and human security during summer 2009.
The purpose of the meetings will be to explore the role which biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management might play in protecting or restoring the well-being of peoples at risk from man-made and natural disasters, and how this should be factored into climate change adaptation strategies and development aid programmes.
The first meeting is currently proposed for Washington D.C. in May 2009. The Secretariat wishes to invite input from interested parties as to specific thematic and regional issues which should be considered by these meetings.
